Kylee Tokoi represents clients in family law matters including divorce, paternity, child custody, child support, spousal maintenance, and guardianship, and prepares and advises clients regarding prenuptial and postnuptial agreements. Kylee also assists parents, grandparents, and other interested parties in Child in Need of Care (CINC) matters and defends youths charged as juvenile offenders under the Kansas Juvenile Justice Code.

As a teenager, Kylee witnessed an attorney help a family member through a difficult season of life. The experience inspired Kylee to enter the legal field so she could help others during pivotal moments in their lives. A strategic problem solver and passionate advocate, Kylee has found her niche practicing in domestic law and juvenile criminal defense. In every case, she endeavors to provide her clients clarity regarding their present circumstances and the support they need to reach their objectives for the future.

Before she joined JHC, Kylee interned and later practiced as an Assistant District Attorney at the Douglas County’s Attorney’s Office, where she handled Juvenile Offender and CINC cases. As an Assistant District Attorney, Kylee created two new diversion programs for juveniles and drafted a Memorandum of Understanding for truancy prevention services. The Memorandum, now a statewide template for other counties, seeks to provide children and families with services to prevent unnecessary court involvement while also bridging communication gaps between crucial partners within the child in need of care system.
