Christopher M. Joseph (Topeka/Lawrence), the firm’s managing member. His practice focuses on the defense of individuals and businesses during the investigation and prosecution of criminal charges in federal and state courts. His practice also includes complex civil litigation and defending professional licensure. A graduate of Wichita State University and the University of Kansas School of Law, Joseph is admitted to practice in both Kansas and the Western District of Missouri. He is a lifetime member of the Kansas and National Associations of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and, in May 2019, he was selected to serve on the Kansas Judicial Council’s Criminal Law Advisory Committee.
Ross A. Hollander (Wichita), co-chair of the firm’s Civil Litigation and Employment Law Division. Hollander has practiced employment, labor, and commercial law for more than 40 years. Hollander is a past president of the Wichita Bar Association, past president of the Kansas Bar Association’s Employment Law Section, and past president of the Wesley E. Brown Inn of Court. A graduate of Wichita State University, Hollander received his Juris Doctor from the University of Kansas School of Law. He also served as an adjunct professor at Friends University Master’s Program, teaching Management Labor Relations. He is a member of the Wichita, Kansas and American Bar Associations, Kansas Association of Defense Counsel, Defense Research Institute, and National Arbitration and Mediation (NAM).
Kristine Lawless(Topeka)has extensive experience in complex federal and state criminal cases, including appeals. Her primary practice focuses on family law, and she is certified by the Kansas Supreme Court to perform mediation in domestic cases. Lawless was formerly Chief of the Northeast Kansas Conflicts Office and served as an Assistant Appellate Defender and Public Defender in Shawnee County. A graduate of Wichita State University, Lawless earned her Juris Doctor at Washburn University School of Law. She has been an adjunct professor for the law school and has served as Judge Pro Tem in the Shawnee County District Court.
Dionne M. Scherff (Overland Park/Kansas City) is an experienced litigator and one of only a few lawyers qualified by the American Bar Association to handle death penalty cases. She is one of only two lawyers in Kansas’ history of death penalty cases to get a capital case dismissed. Her criminal defense practice represents clients charged with first degree murder, Jessica’s law offenses, bank robbery, drug distribution, mortgage fraud, aggravated kidnapping, rape, aggravated indecent liberties, aggravated battery, stalking, electronic solicitation, DUI and all juvenile offenses. Scherff received her juris doctorate from the University of Kansas School of Law, where she now serves as an adjunct professor. Scherff is a Master of the American Inns of Court, Earl E. O’Connor Chapter, and is a member of the Johnson County Bar Association, Wyandotte County Bar Association, Kansas Bar Association and Kansas City Missouri Bar Association, and the Kansas Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Carrie E. Parker (Lawrence) practices primarily in the areas of criminal defense and civil litigation. Her criminal law practice includes representation during the investigation and prosecution of criminal charges, while her civil practice focuses on representation of individuals and businesses involved in complex civil litigation, civil matters related to constitutional and criminal law, and defense of licensed professionals subject to disciplinary proceedings. Parker received her juris doctorate from the University of Oklahoma College of Law, where she was a Comfort Scholar, a member of the Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity and earned admission to the Order of the Coif, a national honor society for law school graduates with exceptional academic achievement. She completed her undergraduate studies at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia.
