Joseph, Hollander & Craft LLC has elected Jess Hoeme as a Member of the firm. Hoeme, a former Mitchell County Attorney and Shawnee County Assistant District Attorney, joined the firm in 2011 as a criminal defense attorney. Hoeme knows Kansas courtrooms well, having handled cases in 70 of Kansas’s 105 counties.
“We are pleased to elect Jess as a Member of our firm,” said Christopher M. Joseph, Managing Member. “His extensive experience prosecuting cases was one reason we recruited him to join the firm. Jess taught trial advocacy for the Department of Justice’s National Advocacy Center and the National District Attorney’s Association. His first-hand knowledge of techniques used by police and prosecutors has contributed to the success of our DUI and criminal defense practices.”
In addition to his years as a prosecutor, Hoeme served in Afghanistan as the legal education and training advisor for the justice sector of Pacific Architects & Engineers (PAE), a peacekeeping and global security organization that establishes infrastructure for criminal justice systems. Hoeme developed curricula and was a legal training advisor for Afghan prosecutors, defense attorneys, and judges.
A 1999 graduate of Washburn University with a bachelor’s degree in political science, Hoeme earned his law degree from Creighton University School of Law in 2002.
Hoeme is chair of the Wichita Bar Association’s Criminal Committee and is a member of the Wichita, Kansas, and American Bar Associations. He is a past board member of the Kansas County and District Attorney’s Association and the National District Attorneys Association.
