The Wichita Business Journal’s annual Women in Business awards has honored Julia A. Craft, of Joseph, Hollander & Craft LLC, as one of the area’s outstanding businesswomen. Craft is chair of the firm’s statewide Family Law Division and manager of its Wichita office.
Craft, a former Sedgwick County Assistant District Attorney, launched her private practice in 1989 and built one of the area’s leading family law practices. She merged with Joseph & Hollander in 2011, and the firm was renamed Joseph, Hollander & Craft in 2012 to reflect her partnership.
Craft’s practice covers all aspects of domestic and juvenile law, including separation agreements and divorce; child custody, child support, parenting agreements and spousal support; and child-in-need-of-care, guardianships and juvenile offenders. The Family Law Division she has developed now includes seven of the firm’s 18 attorneys, who handle cases statewide.
“I’m extremely honored to be recognized as one of the Wichita Business Journal’s leading women in business,” Craft said. “Women in business are entrepreneurial in spirit, and that drives success, no matter the industry or the challenges you face. I’ve been fortunate to have great mentors and advisors along the way, and I’m honored to pay that forward as a mentor to other young lawyers.”
Craft also earned honors in 2016’s inaugural issue of The National Law Journal’s Divorce, Trusts and Estates Trailblazers magazine for her legal expertise and contributions to the field of family law.
After graduating cum laude from Wichita State University in 1979, Ms. Craft earned her juris doctorate from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1982. She is an active member of the Kansas Bar Association and Wichita Bar Association, and serves on the WBA’s Family Law & Fee Dispute Committees. She also serves on the Sedgwick County Civil Service Board.
Joseph, Hollander & Craft has 18 lawyers and offices in Kansas City, Lawrence, Topeka and Wichita. The firm’s primary practice areas include complex criminal defense, DUI defense, employment law, family law, medical malpractice, professional liability defense and commercial law. The firm’s attorneys represent clients in municipal, state, federal and appellate courts and before administrative panels.
