On Friday, February 7, a Sedgwick County jury found former Wichita police officer Samuel Dugo not guilty of aggravated battery. Attorney Jess Hoeme defended Dugo on the charge stemming from an auto accident on March 16, 2018. Dugo, a Wichita police officer at the time, was responding to a burglary call when his patrol vehicle collided with a civilian’s truck. The truck’s occupant suffered injuries from the crash.  Upon hearing the verdict, Dugo collapsed into his chair.  Hoeme said, “Our police officers serve to protect us whenever we are in need.
