Mr. Goodwin is an experienced litigation attorney whose practice focuses on representing personal injury plaintiffs in the transportation, financial, utility, and manufacturing industries. He has represented clients in cases involving personal injury, wrongful death, professional liability, products liability, property damage, insurance coverage and business disputes. Mr. Goodwin has extensive experience in commercial motor vehicle accidents, having litigated trucking cases in more than 20 states.
Mr. Goodwin’s practice also includes cannabis law. He assists clients in understanding and navigating the complex federal, state and local regulatory framework for cannabis, including the complex licensing process for cannabis businesses. After licensing, he provides ongoing general business counsel, and is an aggressive and experienced advocate for cannabis-related organizations facing litigation.
Mr. Goodwin is licensed to practice in all state courts in Kansas and Missouri. He is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri, the United States District Court for the District of Kansas, and the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois.
Mr. Goodwin received his juris doctorate cum laude from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law in 2012. While attending law school, he served as a judicial intern and a teaching assistant in UMKC’s Legal Research and Writing Program. Mr. Goodwin was also a member of the ABA Negotiation Team, the Moot Court Executive Board, and the UMKC Law Review. Mr. Goodwin graduated from University of Missouri – Kansas City with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance in 2008.
Before joining Joseph, Hollander & Craft LLC, Mr. Goodwin was a litigation partner with the Kansas City firm Seigfreid Bingham, P.C., where his practice focused on cases involving complex and catastrophic loss, including commercial motor vehicle accidents. Mr. Goodwin serves as an Adjunct Professor for the University Of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, where he teaches Missouri Cannabis Law.
Mr. Goodwin is a member of MoCannTrade and the National Cannabis Industry Association. He also serves on the Board of After Action Network, a veterans’ non-profit organization.
Mr. Goodwin is a member of the Kansas Bar Association, the Missouri Bar Association, the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys.
