Matthew (Matt) Johnston is a personal injury plaintiffs’ attorney located in Kansas City, Missouri. Matt focuses the majority of his practice on catastrophic injury and wrongful death litigation and insurance bad faith claims. He also represents individuals and businesses in complex commercial disputes involving business torts, breach of contract, and securities fraud, among other things.

Whether you meet Matt at his office, in the courtroom, or on the golf course, he’s the same guy—trustworthy, extremely hardworking, and remarkably even-keeled.

Matt started his legal career at a prominent insurance defense law firm, where he gained valuable knowledge and insight into how insurance companies defend injury cases. During his time as an insurance defense attorney, Matt defended cases involving high-exposure insurance bad faith claims. He saw firsthand how the abusive practices of insurance companies can have severe financial consequences for insured policyholders. Now, he uses that knowledge to advocate for victims of bad faith insurance practices.

In his civil litigation practice, Matt is a powerhouse. No matter what type of case he’s handling, Matt excels at two things: identifying his client’s needs and delivering results.
