TOPEKA – Former Shawnee County Assistant District Attorney Marie C. Campbell has joined the Topeka office of Joseph Hollander & Craft. Her practice area focuses on family law, including divorce, child support and custody, paternity, and adoption. She also handles child in need of care cases, guardianships and juvenile offender matters.
Serving as an Assistant District Attorney for Shawnee County from 2012 – 2014, Campbell primarily handled child in need of care and juvenile cases. She also worked as a staff attorney for Kansas Legal Services, advocating for victims of stalking and domestic violence in Shawnee, Douglas and Jefferson counties. She is trained in the Kansas protocol used to conduct forensic interviews of children.
Campbell earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. While an undergraduate, she worked as a legal assistant for an attorney handling criminal defense, personal injury and federal civil rights cases. She earned her J.D. from Washburn University School of Law, with a Certificate in Advocacy. During law school, Campbell interned for the Washburn Law Criminal Defense Clinic, representing indigent individuals charged with misdemeanors and felonies in municipal and district courts. She also clerked for a Topeka firm practicing in the areas of criminal defense, personal injury and complex medical malpractice litigation.
“Marie’s training in forensic interview skills adds another dimension of legal expertise for juvenile clients and their parents,” said Christopher M. Joseph, who heads the firm’s offices in northeast Kansas. “She’s a tremendous addition to both our family law and criminal defense practices.”
Campbell is a member of the Kansas Bar Association, Topeka Bar Association, and Women Attorneys Association of Topeka.
